UNITED STRENGTH MURAL

Location: Downtown, Discovery district, Columbus, Ohio

This custom mural was created in 2021 for a new gym called UNITED STRENGTH, located in Discovery District next to Columbus State community College. This is Orewiler's first mural for a gym, training facility and the first involving the Fibonacci sequence concept. Orewiler is also working with the United Strength trainers - for over a year. The results have benefited him mentally and his strength training has contributed to the intense labor work involving his murals.

In the Fibonacci sequence, each number is the sum of the previous two numbers. Fibonacci omitted the "0" and first "1" included today and began the sequence with 1, 2, 3, ... . He carried the calculation up to the thirteenth place, the value 233, though another manuscript carries it to the next place, the value 377. Fibonacci did not speak about the golden ratio as the limit of the ratio of consecutive numbers in this sequence.

On many plants, the number of petals is a Fibonacci number: buttercups have 5 petals; lilies and iris have 3 petals; some delphiniums have 8; corn marigolds have 13 petals; some asters have 21 whereas daisies can be found with 34, 55 or even 89 petals.

The Fibonacci formula is given as, Fn = Fn-1 + Fn-2, where n > 1.
